‘This slick waterside hotel overlooks the marina at Porto Montenegro. Designed to reflect the region’s centuries-old ties with Venice, it is elegant, aristocratic and refined. Come here for open-air gourmet dining, an indulgent spa and impeccable service.’ (The Telegraph).
Within the Porto Montenegro complex, centring on a 450-berth super-yacht marina, rimmed by cafés, boutiques and yachting outlets. It lies on the edge of Tivat, in the Bay of Kotor, four miles from Kotor’s Unesco-listed Old Town. The nearest airports are Tivat (3 miles), Dubrovnik (29 miles) and Podgorica (56 miles).
Grand and refined, the building was inspired by Venetian-Renaissance architecture. Tino Zervudachi of MHZ (Milinaric, Henry & Zervudachi) did the interior design – his former clients include Mick Jagger.
Warm, welcoming and professional staff provide impeccable and highly personalised service. The Regent Spa offers massages and luscious face and body beauty treatments (Ligne St Barth products), plus sauna, steam room, hammam and experience showers. There’s a gym, a black indoor sea-view pool with hot tub, and an outdoor pool on the first-floor terrace, overlooking the marina. Special three-day packages are offered during relevant seasons. For business meetings, Ballroom Teodo can seat up to 200.
There are 51 double rooms and 35 suites and residences (one, two or three-bedroom), all with balconies. Décor subtly evokes the feeling of being aboard a luxury yacht, with the use of wood, fabrics in blues, cream and beige, and a linen canopy above the beds suggesting sails. Nespresso machine and tea-making facilities are provided. Spacious bathrooms come with free-standing tubs and walk-in showers, L’Occitane toiletries, and open-windows giving into the bedroom (those preferring modesty can close it with a sliding wooden shutter).
The Dining Room restaurant occupies a grand space with high ceilings, cornices and sweeping red curtains, and has additional outdoor tables in the Italian Garden, overlooking the marina. Executive Chef Željko Knezović, who trained at Noma in Copenhagen, follows the motto “Elegant yet Simple”, turning out creative Mediterranean cuisine with Asian references, based on fresh local produce. Breakfast is a generous buffet spread, with cooked dishes prepared on request.
The Library Bar (evenings only) is reminiscent of a London gentleman’s club, with leather armchairs, an open fireplace, shelves of antique books, and a piano, and serves champagne and whisky. Overlooking the sailing boats moored up along the quay, the Gourmet Corner café specialises in French patisserie and sorbets.
