Abbazia Collemedio Location & Surroundings
Set in the small town of Collepepe on a hill overlooking the countryside, Abbazia dei Collemedio is a unique hotel which was once a Franciscan monastery. Set in a 13th-century abbey, Abbazia dei Collemedio is a deluxe property in the hilltop village of Collepepe, between Perugia and Todi, which are both less than 30 minutes’ drive away. Lonely Planet describes Perugia as “Umbria’s petite and immediately likeable capital”, while Rough Guides says few places can beat Todi for “sheer location” and “fairy-tale medievalism”.
Torgiano, a 15-minute drive away, is known for its olive oil and wines.
Every area of the hotel is rich in heritage including the grotto used by monks for prayer. Rooms come with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a minibar. The bathroom has a hairdryer and free toiletries.
The Abbazia dei Collemedio features a swimming pool, gym and tennis courts for your enjoyment.
The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool (open May-October) surrounded by greenery, a restaurant serving local specialities and two bars.
Start your day with a generous buffet breakfast, and enjoy afternoon tea after a day exploring the area. Dinner is served in elegant dining rooms, one of which used to be the monks’ church.
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Italy’s green heart with a scenic stay at Abbazia Collemedio – a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence-awarded hotel where complete and unrestrained relaxation is the name of the game. Set against a scenic backdrop of rolling sun-soaked hills in Collepepe, it holds a strong, centuries-old heritage as a converted monastery dating back to the 1200s. Combining authenticity and history with art-filled walls and architectural splendour, a stay here will be nothing if not charming.
The accommodation is suitably relaxing and Franciscan-themed, with traditional iron bed frames, soft furnishings and a focus on earthy and cream hues throughout. As expected from an Umbrian hotel, the on-site restaurant is quite the crowd-pleaser, with a warm and welcoming staff on hand to whip up the region’s finest flavours (best enjoyed, of course, with a generous wine list). Add an outdoor swimming pool and close proximity to the region’s loveliest sights (the cities and towns of Perugia, Assisi and Montefalco, to name a few), and you’ve a bucket list-ticking experience of a lifetime.
