The 5-star Mr & Mrs White Crete Resort & Spa has stunning views over the cobalt blue waters of the Aegean, along the sunset-facing west coast of the Akrotiri peninsula in Crete.
Loungers and parasols surround the two outdoor saltwater pools in the spacious grounds, and there’s an indoor pool at the wellness centre. Massage therapies are available for an extra charge at the 1500-square-metre spa. A 15-minute sauna and hydro-bath access is included (further use of these facilities incur fees), and you are free to work out in the gym.
Start your day with breakfast at the Myrto Main Restaurant, which also serves buffet lunch and dinner. Once per stay you are invited to dine à la carte at either Ellie’s Italian Restaurant or at the Asian Restaurant (otherwise chargeable). Drinks and daytime snacks such as burgers, hot dogs, pizzas, sandwiches, cakes, and ice cream are on offer at the Eros Pool Bar as part of your all-inclusive package, and you can also grab refreshments from the Onyx Lounge Bar.
Superior rooms have furnished private balconies or terraces with views over the mountains or the gardens, and come with tea- and coffee-making facilities. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
The nearest sandy beaches are at the villages of Tersanas and Stavros, less than five minutes’ drive from the hotel. Transportation is available for a fee, or you can hire a car from the front desk and go to explore the island yourself. Chania is “Crete’s most evocative city” (Lonely Planet), with its “pretty Venetian quarter criss-crossed by narrow lanes and culminating at a magnificent harbour” — you can get there in 30 minutes by car.
